I've been in the flower business for over 40 years. After helping my husband run Turpin's Florist for 37 years and taking a short break, we opened Julian's Flowers in 2016 in honor of Jay's father, Julian. Looking forward to the future and adding many more chapters to my life in flowers!!!

About Julian's Flowers

Started by Martha Turpin in the late 20's in Downtown Norfolk the Turpin family has been synonymous with flowers ever since. Walter and his son, Julian, owned and operated Turpin's Nursery during the 50's, supplying fresh flowers to wholesalers like Norfolk Wholesale and S.S. Pennock.

After Walter's death Julian bought Alice Blair florist in 1959, located in Southern Shopping Center. Known for their quality and freshness of flowers Julian and wife Laura operated the florist until 1976. After an illness Julian was forced to retire and son Jay (Julian, Jr.) took over the florist operation and did so until the mercurial nature of the industry forced him to close the shop in 2014.

Julian's Flowers, known for the freshest flowers is operated by Jay along with wife Cathy will be an online florist accepting phone and e-commerce orders, and except for a storefront, will offer all flowers and services that Turpin's did.

Jay Turpin unexpectedly died in October 2020. Cathy and their two daughters, Bailey and Jessie, will work as a team to ensure Julian’s Flowers will continue the family legacy of delivering fresh and beautifully arranged flowers. Julian's Flowers is in memory and honor of Martha, Walter, Laura, Julian and Jay (Julian, Jr.) Turpin.
